About Botox
Neuromodulators temporarily relax targeted muscles by reducing the release of acetylcholine– a hormone and neurotransmitter that causes muscle contractions. This helps prevent regular facial expressions that wear on the skin and develop into permanent, static lines that can increase your perceived age. In 2023, specialists performed more than 4.7 million Botox procedures to help patients improve their complexion. (1)
With Botox, we can prevent the dynamic lines from forming while helping you maintain a natural appearance so you can enjoy a more youthful look. (2) Unlike dermal fillers, neuromodulator injectables do not add volume to the face, so you will not need to be concerned about an overfilled appearance. With a simple 15-minute appointment, we can help you smooth the deep facial lines that are caused by muscle contraction.
Botox vs Dermal Fillers
While Botox can help you improve the appearance of lines and wrinkles, dermal fillers restore lost volume for a plumper, more youthful appearance. They can even increase the levels of collagen and elastin in your skin for a more radiant look and improve the quality of your skin barrier over time. Collagen and elastin are proteins that are responsible for helping your skin maintain its shape and structure. When the levels of these proteins in your skin decline, it’s common to see droopy skin, folds, and wrinkles around the nose, eyes, and mouth. With dermal fillers, you can quickly reduce signs of aging.

- Natural-looking results: We administer the treatment directly into the muscle to only target the muscles that are causing fine lines or wrinkles to appear.
- Fast procedure: With a convenient, 15-minute appointment, we can transform your complexion.
- No downtime: You can return to your daily routine immediately afterwards which is ideal for patients with a busy schedule.
- Comfortable treatment: Although you may feel slight pressure, we can use lidocaine for a comfortable treatment.
- Lasting results: You can maintain long-lasting results if you take good care of your skin to prevent further wrinkles and fine lines from forming.
Candidates
If you are looking for a minimally invasive treatment to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, you are likely a good candidate for the procedure. Suitable candidates:
- Have realistic expectations
- Are in good overall health
- Do not have any allergies to ingredients in the formula
If you are pregnant or breastfeeding you may not be the best candidate for the treatment, and we can discuss your aesthetic goals to determine the best treatment plan for your needs.
Personal Consultation
During your consultation, we will ask about your medications, lifestyle, medical history, and aesthetic goals. We will also need to discuss whether or not you should have additional procedures to achieve your body goals. Many patients combine Botox with dermal fillers to help them restore lost volume after aging, and we can also recommend Medspa treatments to help you improve the appearance of your skin barrier for a more radiant appearance. To learn more about the additional treatments we offer, see the blog.
Preparation
To prepare for the treatment, you will need to:
- Stop taking blood thinners
- Discontinue any skin products with retinol, alpha hydroxy acid, or glycolic acid
- Stop drinking alcohol for 24 hours before and after your treatment
You will also need to arrive with a clean face without any creams or makeup products. You will also need to take good care of your skin in the weeks leading up to your appointment and avoid sun exposure that could damage your skin. If your skin is damaged, we may need to delay your treatment until your skin heals.
Treatment Process
During the treatment process, we will cleanse your skin and administer the formula directly into the muscle. The simple procedure takes approximately 10-15 minutes. We can administer several small injections to target specific areas of your face and the muscles that are causing dynamic wrinkles. After the treatment, you will not experience downtime. You can resume most of your normal activities immediately afterward.
After Your Treatment
It is important to make sure that you avoid putting pressure on your skin or rubbing the treatment area afterward. You will also need to stay upright in a vertical position for 4 hours after the treatment and practice making facial expressions to help the formula settle into your muscles. If you have any discomfort or swelling in the treatment area, you can use a cold compress to alleviate it as long as you do not put too much pressure on your face. You can also take over-the-counter acetaminophen to alleviate any discomfort.
Results
Although you may notice an improvement immediately, you can enjoy the full effect after approximately 1 week. Over the first 3-4 days, you will gradually notice improvements in your complexion, and after 30 days the treatment will fully settle into your muscles. If you take good care of your skin, you can enjoy results that last for several months. However, results can vary depending on the quality of your skin and your age. It is also important to avoid sun exposure which could cause more fine lines and wrinkles to form. UV light is responsible for approximately 80% of skin aging and can affect your results. (3) If you need assistance with aftercare or skin care, we can discuss the best routine for your needs and recommend additional treatments. You can easily maintain your results with a touch-up appointment.
Additional Facial Treatments
Profractional Laser
Profractional laser treatments can improve the appearance of fine lines, scars, and wrinkles to help you improve signs of facial aging. The laser is ablative, meaning it resurfaces your skin gently to exfoliate it and stimulate collagen to improve the appearance of your complexion. Discoloration from scars or sun damage can affect your appearance and your self-esteem. Ablative lasers are one of the most effective treatments for removing them and helping your skin barrier restore itself. During the treatment, we will pass the laser over the treatment area, and depending on the condition of your skin and the depth of the lesion you may need multiple passes to help you improve your appearance.
Sciton Broadband Light
Broadband light is a treatment that increases the levels of collagen in your skin to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles that can increase your perceived age. During the treatment, strong beams of laser light energy penetrate the skin barrier at different depths depending on your skin concerns and aesthetic goals. The treatment can improve the appearance of acne, freckles, age spots, and deep lesions. If you have vascular lesions such as cherry angiomas or rosacea, you can enjoy a more even skin tone and youthful-looking complexion after the treatment.
SkinTyte
SkinTyte can correct mild to moderate skin laxity with infrared-light technology that penetrates the deeper layers of your skin to stimulate collagen production. The collagen production that the treatment stimulates can help to tighten your skin and create a more radiant complexion. We can perform the treatment on your face, neck, abdomen, arms, vulva, and legs to help you improve the appearance of your skin and increase the protein levels of your skin barrier. Many patients choose to rejuvenate the face and jawline after years of sun exposure have changed the texture, tone, or quality of their skin.
