Exosomes
Conveniently located to serve the areas of Los Gatos, Danville and San Jose

Exosome therapy is an emerging treatment currently under investigation for its potential to support the body’s natural repair processes, including improving skin affected by sun damage, acne, and visible signs of aging. Exosomes are microscopic, membrane-bound vesicles that your body naturally produces. They play a critical role in optimizing the immune system and supporting tissue repair by enhancing cellular communication. We can administer exosomes as a stand-alone treatment or combine them with other therapies to help you refresh your skin, address sun damage, enhance hair growth, and achieve a smoother, more youthful-looking appearance overall.
At Swan Medical, we have helped thousands of patients improve their appearance and health with regenerative therapies personalized to their unique goals. Paired with our staff’s expertise, our treatments can help you achieve long-lasting results without requiring anesthetics, surgical techniques, or prolonged downtimes.

About Exosomes
Exosomes are tiny extracellular vesicles naturally released by cells that play a key role in cell-to-cell communication and tissue repair. When your skin is damaged, your body responds by producing collagen and elastin—proteins that help maintain skin structure, firmness, and elasticity. However, as you age, the production of these proteins declines, contributing to visible signs of aging such as fine lines, wrinkles, and uneven skin tone.
Exosome therapy is being explored for its potential to support skin regeneration by stimulating collagen and elastin production. This may help improve skin texture, reduce pigmentation, and restore a more youthful appearance. Exosomes are also being investigated for their role in addressing hair thinning and loss.
They can be used as a stand-alone treatment or combined with other skin rejuvenation procedures, such as microneedling or laser therapy, to enhance overall results.
Exosomes vs. Platelet-rich Plasma (PRP)
Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a skin rejuvenation treatment that helps the body produce new cells and repair itself from damage. We take a small blood sample to create a nutrient-rich serum that contains growth factors and collagen. Unlike PRP, which rejuvenates the skin with nutrients, exosomes increase cellular communication in the body to target your immune response to where it is needed most.
Skin Rejuvenation
Exosomes increase the cellular communication in your body to draw attention to the areas that need rejuvenation or healing the most. This mechanism shows promise for helping address sun damage, hyperpigmentation, wrinkles, and dryness. (1) Although they can be a stand-alone treatment, many patients will combine exosomes with other treatments, like:
- Platelet-rich plasma (PRP): This nutrient-rich serum is made from a blood sample to increase the collagen, elastin, and fibroblasts in your skin.
- SkinPen (Microneedling): We can administer tiny needles to the skin to increase your collagen levels and refresh your appearance for fewer fine lines and wrinkles.
- Laser & Light Therapies: Gentle beams of laser and light energy diminish fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation while increasing collagen levels.
- PDO Thread Lifting: Adding biocompatible threads to the skin provides it with more structure while stimulating collagen production. Your body naturally absorbs these threads over time.
- Dermal fillers: These injectables increase your skin’s volume with flexible fillers that move fluidly with your facial expressions.
- Botox: Reducing the repetitive muscle movements that wear on your skin creates a smoother appearance with natural-looking results.
Hair Restoration
Exosomes are also being explored for their potential to enhance hair restoration. Some exosomes are derived from hair follicles and contain specific nanostructures that may support hair follicle growth. (2,3) Administering exosomes to the scalp might help your body produce new cells, stimulate new hair growth, and create a healthier environment for your hair. As with other indications, exosomes for hair restoration can be used alone or in combination with other treatments, including:
ACP for Hair Regrowth
ACP for hair regrowth is a regenerative therapy that intends to increase your scalp’s fibroblasts, collagen, and elastin levels to help you achieve thicker, fuller hair. During the treatment, we can take a small blood sample to create a nutrient-rich serum and administer it to the hair follicles to stimulate them, encouraging new growth. ACP, or autologous conditioned plasma, is a refined PRP treatment that carefully injects platelets while minimizing the white blood cell population to reduce inflammation. Some patients will need a series of ACP hair restoration treatments to see optimal results. Because exosomes help the body prioritize cells and growth factors to the areas that need them, combining exosomes with ACP hair regrowth treatments might help replenish the scalp with what it needs for hair growth.
Abundance Hair Formula
Abundance hair formula is a hair growth supplement that contains AnaGain Nu™, an extract derived from pea shoots. AnaGain Nu™ is infused with L-arginine and biotin–nutrients that support hair growth. (4) It stimulates the production of noggin (NOG) proteins that shorten the hair follicle’s resting phase, allowing it to enter longer growth cycles. It can also improve fibroblast growth factor-7, a key component of keratin formation for thicker, stronger hair. Like with ACP treatments, combining exosomes with Abundance might help to enhance the strength of the hair formula, leading to enhanced, healthy hair growth.
Abundance Hair Formula is available for purchase exclusively from Swan Medical.

Preparation & Treatment Process
Preparing for exosome treatments is a simple process. You should avoid excessive sun exposure and care for your skin properly in the weeks leading up to your treatment. You should stop smoking for several weeks, eat nutritious foods, and get adequate rest (7-8 hours each night).
The treatment process is relatively simple. Exosomes are administered through injections, though the amount you receive and where you receive them depends on your aesthetic goals. If necessary, we can also administer a topical anesthetic to enhance your comfort.

FAQ
How many exosome treatments will I need?
This will depend on your personalized plan, and we will discuss the most effective treatment for your circumstances during your consultation.
Can exosomes help regrow my hair?
Exosomes might stimulate the hair follicles to encourage new growth for thicker, fuller hair. However, if you do not have hair follicles in the treatment area, exosomes will not help.
How long will exosomes last?
You might enjoy long-lasting results if you take good care of your skin and avoid excessive sun exposure to prevent skin damage that could affect your appearance.
Can I combine exosomes with other treatments?
Yes, we can combine exosomes with other treatments and discuss additional anti-aging therapies to help you achieve your desired look.
What are exosomes?
Exosomes are extracellular vesicles that cells throughout your body produce to communicate with each other. They play an important role in your immune system and healing processes by drawing attention to the cells that require support. When used for skin rejuvenation or hair restoration, your body produces new growth factors to provide the cells with the nutrients they need.
Are there any risks to exosome therapy?
As a non-surgical treatment, exosome therapy has minimal risks. Some patients may experience some redness, soreness, bruising, or swelling at their injection sites, but these fade quickly.
