How Does PRP Work?

Platelet-rich plasma treatments help your body produce new cells to refresh your skin, stimulate your hair follicles for thicker, fuller hair, and even improve your intimate wellness. As you age, the collagen in your skin declines, leading to fine lines, wrinkles, and mild laxity. By extracting the nutrients from a blood sample, our specialists can help your skin regenerate naturally. PRP can be used on its own for amazing results, but can also be used in combination with other therapies for an even greater impact.

PRP vs. PRF

PRP delivers a powerful burst of nutrients to help your body regenerate. Platelet-rich fibrin (PRF) is a growth factor-rich serum that helps your body regenerate over a longer period. Both PRP and PRF can address signs of aging and rejuvenate the skin and hair, but PRF contains fewer anticoagulants, making it better suited for patients with sensitive skin. (1)

PRP vs. Dermal Fillers

While PRP refreshes the skin with growth factors, dermal fillers can add volume to the skin. Although PRP can help your skin produce new cells, it is less effective at adding volume to your skin. Some patients choose to combine PRP with fillers to address multiple concerns during a single appointment. Dermal fillers are flexible formulas that are deposited beneath the skin to enhance volume with natural-looking results. Treatments that combine PRP with dermal fillers include Vampire Facelift, Vampire Breast Lift, and for volume loss of the labia majora, the Vampire Labial Augmentation.

PRP Treatments

PRP for Hair Loss

Hair loss is linked to aging, nutrient deficiencies, stress, and lifestyle changes. It can significantly impact your self-esteem and quality of life. It can occur in a pattern along the hairline, the crown of the head, or even the temple area. PRP can help you address hair loss by stimulating the hair follicles and reducing scalp inflammation. This is especially helpful for patients with alopecia areata, which causes them to lose hair due to scalp inflammation. (2) We can administer PRP to the scalp to stimulate the hair follicles for new hair growth and a more youthful-looking appearance.

Dark Undereye Circles

Addressing dark undereye circles (periorbital hyperpigmentation) with PRP can diminish fine lines, puffiness, wrinkles, pigmentation, and common signs of aging. (3) When injected beneath the eyes, PRP stimulates new cell growth and collagen production, helping to brighten the area and reduce signs of fatigue. This treatment can increase your skin’s fibroblasts–molecules that help your body produce collagen and elastin–for long-lasting results and tighter, smoother skin. This treatment can also minimize the appearance of crow’s feet for a more youthful look.

Skin Rejuvenation

Genetics, sun exposure, pollution, diet, and smoking can all accelerate facial aging. (4) Regenerative skin care treatments can increase your collagen levels to address fine lines, wrinkles, and sun damage affecting your appearance. We offer several PRP treatments to renew your appearance:

  • Vampire Facial: We can help you achieve smoother skin by diminishing fine lines, wrinkles, and sun damage to refresh your appearance.
  • Vampire Facelift: PRP combined with HA fillers can address mild skin laxity for smoother skin and lasting results.
  • Vampire Breast Lift: With PRP treatments, we can address mild volume loss on the inner aspects of the breast near the chest bone. Cleavage may change over time due to this volume loss and can be restored using a combination of PRP with HA Fillers to give a natural, supple fullness to the breasts.
  • Vampire Labia Augmentation: Aging, pregnancy, and weight fluctuations can affect the appearance of the genital area, especially the outer labia, and PRP treatments in combination with HA fillers can restore volume to improve comfort and your self-confidence.

The growth factors in the treatment can help your skin barrier repair itself for improved texture and a smoother look. We can also reduce the appearance of scars, so you can enjoy a more even skin tone. Increasing the collagen levels in your skin can also help you enjoy a more radiant, hydrated appearance and reduce the appearance of mild nasolabial folds and forehead lines for a smoother look.

Candidates & Consultation

Suitable candidates for PRP treatments are those who would like to improve the appearance of their skin and/or address dark under-eye circles. Many patients would also like to achieve thicker hair. Candidates are typically seeking a treatment that requires minimal downtime but offers lasting results.

During your consultation, we will discuss your goals and perform a physical examination to determine the most effective treatment plan. We will discuss your treatment options and recommend additional procedures to help you achieve your goals.

Preparation and Treatment Process

To prepare for PRP treatments, you must temporarily stop taking medications and supplements that thin the blood. In sun-exposed areas, you should also protect your skin from sun damage and refrain from smoking and other nicotine use. If you drink alcohol, we recommend that you stop 24 hours before and after your appointment. We will provide more detailed instructions once your treatment plan has been established.

During your treatment, we will take a small blood sample. We will purify it to extract the PRP and create a nutrient-rich serum to help your body generate new, healthy cells. We will then inject the PRP serum into the treatment area.

After Your Treatment

After receiving your PRP treatment, you can return home. We recommend avoiding NSAIDS (Ibuprofen or Naproxen) for two weeks after your treatment. Over the next few weeks, you can enjoy continuous improvements in your skin, hair, and/or intimate wellness depending on your treatment plan. Our team will provide specific recovery instructions depending on whether you receive the “O” shot, skin rejuvenation treatments, or PRP for hair restoration.
