About RHA Fillers

RHA fillers are advanced dermal fillers that adapt with each facial expression and movement, unlike traditional fillers that can look stiff when you talk or smile. These resilient HA fillers are non-vycross linked chains of hyaluronic acid, this most closely mimics our own Hyaluronic acid. This design allows for it to break down smoothly, removing the risk of lumpy bumpy results as it ages. The formulation is known as a premium filler because it often breaks down naturally, limiting the need to be dissolved over time. (1)

RHA fillers are available in a few different formulas:

  • RHA Redensity: A thin gel formula that is used for superficial fine lines, the under eyes, the neck, and delicate surface wrinkles.

Preparation

Effectively preparing for your RHA filler treatment allows your skin to properly absorb the fillers and optimizes your final results. Our team recommends that you:

  • Avoid blood-thinning medications and supplements
  • Pause the use of harsh chemical skin treatments such as retinoids, glycolic acids, or other strong exfoliating acids
  • Cease alcohol consumption for at least 24 to 48 hours prior to your injections
  • Postpone strenuous exercises
  • Cease smoking and nicotine products
  • Arrive with clean skin, free of skincare, sunscreen, or makeup

Procedure

Your experienced filler provider will carefully select the ideal RHA formula based on your individual skin concerns and treatment goals, choosing from Redensity, RHA 2, RHA 3, or RHA 4.

RHA fillers contain lidocaine to help minimize discomfort during treatment. Most patients describe the sensation as a brief pinch or small needle poke. For additional comfort, particularly in sensitive areas such as the lips, your provider may use topical lidocaine or, when appropriate, a perioral nerve block based on your comfort level.

Using a personalized, multi-layered injection technique, your provider may use either a needle or cannula to precisely place the filler within the appropriate layers of the skin and underlying tissue. Treatment is tailored to address your specific areas of concern and may include the cheeks, lips, forehead, neck, or other areas as determined during your consultation.

Once the filler has been placed, your provider will gently massage the treated areas as needed to help smooth and evenly distribute the product for a natural-looking result.

RHA filler treatments are relatively quick and typically take approximately 15–45 minutes, depending on the areas being treated and your individualized treatment plan.

Recovery

Immediately after your procedure, you may notice swelling, tenderness, and bruising at the injection site. These effects are normal and will subside after two to four days. You must avoid alcohol, makeup, and excessive sun exposure for at least 24 hours. After 2 weeks, bruising, swelling, and soreness should subside, and your final results will begin to appear with a soft and natural look. Within two full weeks, you can expect to see the filler fully integrate into your skin tissues, revealing a smooth, plumped, and rejuvenated skin appearance.

Results

The final results of your RHA fillers treatment will appear as a visible softening of facial folds, a restoration of volume, and a natural-looking, plumped facial appearance. Most RHA filler formulas have effects that last between 12 and 15 months, but this will vary depending on the target concerns, your individual metabolism, the formula you receive, and more. You can prolong your results with maintenance injections.
