Support Healthy Hair Growth

We spend around $100 billion on dietary supplements every year. (1) For many of us, a simple multivitamin is all we take to support our body’s daily function. But for others, supplementing vitamins and minerals is a fine art, as we find precisely the right balance of nutrients to optimize the processes that keep us looking and feeling good. Abundance has been formulated to provide the body with all that it needs for healthier hair, while stimulating hair growth and fighting hair loss.

The Hair Cycle

The hair on our scalp is known as terminal hair. It’s longer and thicker than the other types of hair we have elsewhere on our bodies, such as the fine, peach-fuzz-like vellus hair on our faces. There are four stages in the hair cycle:

  • Anagen – The growing phase
  • Catagen – The regressing phase
  • Telogen – The resting phase
  • Exogen – The shedding phase

The longest phase in the hair cycle is the Anagen phase, which on average, lasts between 2-6 years. During this phase, the hair follicle is attached to a blood supply that gives it the nutrients it needs to continue growing healthily. But when the anagen phase is shorter, and the telogen phase is longer, hair is lost at a faster rate than it grows. This can cause thinning patches of hair on the scalp. One of the most common forms of hair loss is Androgenetic Alopecia (AGA). And although both men and women can develop AGA, the condition presents differently depending on your sex.

Hair Loss Facts

Genetic factors and hormonal changes can affect hair growth. Additionally, stress, nutritional deficiencies, and how well your metabolism works can affect how your hair grows.

  • Around half of all adults will experience AGA after puberty. (2)
  • Too much of the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) can shrink hair follicles, causing hair loss.
  • Stress increases cortisol levels in the body, which can affect the hair growth cycle.
  • Chronic stress can result in microinflammation in the gut, and cause a lack of absorption of essential nutrients.
  • A healthy metabolism helps hair stay thick, strong, and healthy.

What is AnaGain NuTM?

Abundance for Men and Abundance for Women harness the science of AnaGain Nu, a natural, pea shoot (pisum sativum)-derived, water-soluble extract. This pea shoot extract contains bioactive compounds that contribute to improved metabolic health, including biotin and L-arginine.

Biotin

Biotin is a B-complex vitamin (vitamin B7) that helps the body break down carbohydrates for energy. It’s an ingredient found in many different hair products,  and is commonly used to help strengthen and thicken hair. If we don’t produce enough of it naturally, the condition of our hair, skin, and nails can suffer.

L-Arginine

L-Arginine is an amino acid. Amino acids are organic compounds used by the body to manage proteins. Among their many important functions, amino acids help us grow and repair damaged tissues.

The hair follicle is the place from which hair grows, at the base of each hair. Anagain Nu helps the body stimulate the following molecules in the dermal papilla of the hair follicle.

  • Noggin: A signaling protein that supports tissue growth and also shortens the resting phase of hair.
  • FGF7: Short for fibroblast factor 7, this protein’s many functions include cell growth, cell distribution, and tissue repair. FGF7 promotes keratinocytes responsible for regulating cell growth and multiplication in the hair follicle.

Other Vital Ingredients

As well as AnaGain NuTM, Abundance contains the following beneficial ingredients.

Hydrolyzed Collagen: Promotes hair growth, strength, and elasticity.

Collagen is a glycoprotein that helps the body maintain resilient, healthy skin. It’s part of the extracellular matrix, the structural framework of connective tissues. Hydrolyzed collagen is collagen that has been broken down into smaller, easily digestible chains.

Hyaluronic Acid

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a humectant. Humectants lock moisture into skin and hair follicles. HA benefits the hair follicle and the hair itself by keeping the scalp and hair strands well-hydrated.

Saw Palmetto

Saw palmetto (Serenoa repens) is a palm-like plant used as food and medicine by native tribes for hundreds of years in the South-Eastern region of the United States. Its extract is now used in dietary supplements to block an enzyme that converts testosterone to DHT in the skin, as studies show promising data and satisfied patients in androgenetic alopecia studies. Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), also known as winter cherry, is a shrub used in Ayurvedic medicine. It has been used in India and Southeast Asian medicine since 6000 BC. Ashwagandha is an adaptogen and has long been known to support cognitive function, and reduce stress levels, anxiety, and depression.

Probiotics

It is important to maintain a thriving gut microbiome to strengthen overall vitality and wellbeing. Malabsorption is associated with poor health and improving gut health is vital to healthy skin and hair. This includes supplementing to help our body stay in peak condition. Probiotics help the body to lower cholesterol, regulate the immune system, and improve skin and hair health.
